Washington [US], June 16 (ANI): Actor Seth Rogen has opened up about the foundation of his long-lasting relationship with wife Lauren Miller Rogen, saying that intimacy, care and mutual support are key ingredients for a successful marriage, according to People.

Rogen, who has been with Lauren for more than two decades and married her in 2011, spoke about relationships while discussing his upcoming film ‘The Invite’ in an interview.

The actor, who first met Lauren through mutual friends in 2005, said his personal experience of being in a healthy, long-term relationship helped shape his understanding of the themes explored in the film, which revolves around two married couples.

“People really bring their own personal stuff into those definitions,” Rogen said while discussing perceptions of good and bad relationships. “I remember feeling like I could really confidently speak about what a very good relationship was like, one that had been good for a very long time.”

Asked about the secret behind his enduring marriage, the actor said it comes down to kindness and understanding.

“It’s a couple who is nice to each other, who loves each other and who goes out of their way to excuse the other person rather than to find things that they hate about the other person,” he said, as per the outlet.

Rogen also credited Lauren for embracing his personality and supporting his creative instincts.

“She does, yes. And at times she will also tell me maybe it’s too much Seth,” he joked while responding to observations that his wife encourages his playful and often unconventional side.

“When we were making the Neighbors movies, a lot of the dynamic between me and Rose Byrne came from conversations with me and Lauren,” he added.

Rejecting stereotypical portrayals of spouses, Rogen said, “She’s not the naggy woman who’s trying to shut down the fun. Me and her love doing the same stuff, and if anything, she’s encouraging it.”

The actor further said that lasting relationships require emotional and physical closeness.

“It comes down to caring and tenderness,” Rogen said. “You have to want to love your partner, and you have to want them to love you back,” according to People.

“You have to be intimate with your partner and sexually attracted to your partner, and that should be returned as well,” he added.

Rogen said such conversations became central to the making of ‘The Invite’, which explores the dynamics of marriage and attraction.

“The Invite really gets into that. So very quickly, me and the other cast members and the writers found ourselves having incredibly revealing conversations,” he said, according to People.

Directed by Olivia Wilde, ‘The Invite’ stars Rogen as Joe, a man dissatisfied with his marriage. Wilde plays his wife Angela, while Penelope Cruz and Edward Norton portray another married couple whose unexpected proposition sets the story in motion.

The film is scheduled to release in theatres on June 26, according to People.

Apart from acting in ‘The Invite’, Rogen and Lauren are also collaborating as producers on ‘Tangles’, an animated film that premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last month. (ANI)
