Sindh [Pakistan], July 13 (ANI): The Jeay Sindh Freedom Movement (JSFM) organised a protest march in Jamshoro district of Sindh, demanding the recovery of Sindhi political activist Mumtaz Soomro and other political activists the group claims have been subjected to enforced disappearance across the province.

In a press release, JSFM stated that a large number of party members, supporters and residents participated in the demonstration, carrying banners and placards calling for an end to enforced disappearances and demanding the safe return of missing political activists.

The protest was led by JSFM Jamshoro District President Saeed Tiyuno, Taluka President Majid Lashari and senior Jeay Sindh Tehreek leader Anwar Bardi. During the march, participants urged the Government of Pakistan and relevant authorities to end the alleged practice of enforced disappearances and ensure the recovery of all missing activists.

Addressing the gathering, JSFM leaders alleged that Mumtaz Soomro was taken into custody before reportedly disappearing from outside a prison gate, describing the incident as a matter of serious concern. They claimed the case raises questions about the rule of law and due process, while alleging that several Sindhi political activists have disappeared without being produced before courts or provided legal safeguards.

The speakers said the families of the missing activists continue to face uncertainty and emotional distress due to the alleged disappearances. They further maintained that peaceful political activity is protected under constitutional and internationally recognised human rights standards, arguing that individuals should not face disappearance for expressing political views or participating in non-violent activism.

The JSFM called for the immediate release of Mumtaz Soomro and all other allegedly disappeared Sindhi political activists. The organisation said that if any individual is accused of a criminal offence, authorities should present them before an independent court and proceed in accordance with the law while ensuring due process and fair trial rights.
