Los Angeles [US], July 20 (ANI): Hollywood star Anne Hathaway has shared a ‘Princess Diaries’ update, teasing a “breakthrough” after their previous script had to be scrapped for a new lead.
In a recent interview, Hathaway said, “I’m busy making baby number three, and that has sort of taken the place of knowing when exactly I can make ‘Princess Diaries 3’. I can say I think we had a story breakthrough,” as quoted by Variety.
Hathaway assured that the team is finally moving in the right direction as she added, “I think we are moving in the right direction. The script that we were working on, we kind of had to start over with this new direction, which is not the update I think anybody wants, but we all feel really good that this is gonna be the one.”
The much-awaited instalment in the ‘The Princess Diaries’ franchise has been in production since 2022. Adele Lim was signed on to direct the film in 2024.
Earlier in May, Lim spoke to Variety and shared that they want to make the right story.
“We just want to make the story right because it is a franchise that is so beloved by so many people,” he said at the Gold Gala carpet.
While production timelines are still being finalised, Lim confirmed the sequel will revisit the fictional kingdom on a grander scale.
“If you were a fan of the original first two movies, I think you can look forward to a lot of fun returns,” Lim said, adding, “We’re going to be able to shoot in Europe and really show the audience Genovia in its full glory.” (ANI)
